Dallas Fuel parts ways with daemoN

April 2, 2020 By Kenny Zientek

overwatch league franchise dallas fuel has announced the departure of assistant coach julien “daemon” ducros as the organization heads into the 2020 overwatch league regular season. the french coach joined in april of 2019 and helped bring the dallas fuel to a 5 – 8th finish during the stage 2 playoffs.

today we mutually part ways with @baemon.

thank you for all that you’ve done for the fuel during the 2019 season and we wish you the best in what’s next. ? pic.twitter.com/osjyigoekk

daemon’s departure

“this one hits differently. love and compassion are vital components for my drive and the fuel’s fans lived up to it, from start to end,” wrote daemon on twitter. “the experience at the homestand and the important people in my life i met there are sweet memories i will always cherish.”

the news about daemon parting ways with the dallas fuel comes nearly a month after fellow assistant coach justin “jayne” conroy also moved on. jayne transitioned to a content creation position with parent organization team envy instead of fully leaving though.

from 2016 on, daemon has held many coaching roles with teams like gamers origin, movistar riders, and rogue. he later joined overwatch league franchise los angeles valiant in the assistant coach role for the first season and the paris eternal as head coach in october of 2018. however, the 23-year-old left the eternal and joined the fuel before stage 2 of the 2019 regular season started.

dallas fuel into 2020

the fuel franchise was created as part of the final three of the overwatch league inaugural season, where they placed 10th out of 12 teams total. while the team made multiple roster changes for players and coaching staff in the offseason, they still struggled in the 2019 season. the fuel finished last in the pacific division and 15th overall in the league standings, with 10 wins and 18 losses.

the organization still has assistant coaches mingyu “vol’jin” kang and louis “tikatee” lebel-wong. in addition, head coach aaron “aero” atkins was signed in 2018 on a multi-year deal. the dallas fuel will play their first two matches in february, against the los angeles valiant and san francisco shock. where do you see their mixed roster placing in 2020?
